Special Features: Decorative foliage and fascinating flowers. Onion-sized flowering buds open to large hemispherical, dark, reddish-purple colored flowers. Decorative foliage. Lush, tropical-looking, reseeds in the garden for long term use. A striking architectural plant either alone or in small groups. Gold Medal prize winner at Plantarium in Boskoop, Holland, 1993.
Historical: The first seeds were obtained from the National Arboretum, USA.
